Unichef Membership Terms and Conditions1. Membership Eligibility
Unichef Membership is open to individuals working in, or associated with, the hospitality and culinary professions.
Unichef and may refuse or withdraw any membership where the organisation considers this necessary to protect its integrity of members or the Union.
Unichef, The National Chefs Union CIC is a company limited by guarantee. By becoming a registered member, your liability is limited to a maximum of £1 if the company is wound up and cannot meet its debts.
Unichef may send you essential membership notices and occasional member updates. These are limited communications relating to your membership, the organisation, member services, or important Unichef information.
Unichef registration is for life, and a list of members is legally required.This can be removed upon written request.
Unichef do not keep any bank details of any member.
2. Membership Subscription
Membership is payable by recurring subscription.
Members may cancel their subscription at any time. However, members receiving active representation or support from the union may be required to maintain membership for a minimum period of three months.
3. Members Responsibilities
Members agree to:
- provide accurate information when joining
- cooperate fully when seeking advice or representation
- follow reasonable advice provided by the union
- maintain respectful communication with union representatives.
Failure to do so may result in support or representation being withdrawn.
4. Pre-Existing Workplace Issues
Unichef cannot normally provide representation for workplace disputes, disciplinary actions, or grievances that began prior to the commencement of membership.
Advice may still be offered where appropriate.
5. Initial Advice Period
New members may receive advice and guidance immediately upon joining.
Full representation in disputes or disciplinary matters will normally be considered after an initial probationary period.
6. Discretionary Representation
While Unichef aims to assist members wherever possible, representation in disputes or legal matters is provided at the union’s discretion.
Decisions will take into account:
- the merits of the case
- available evidence
- the circumstances of the dispute.
7. Withdrawal of Representation
Unichef reserves the right to withdraw representation where:
- the member fails to cooperate
- important information is withheld
- the member acts unreasonably or contrary to advice
- the case is considered to lack sufficient merit.
8. Confidentiality
Unichef will treat member information and case details confidentially except where disclosure is required by law or necessary to pursue a member’s case.
9. Amendments
Unichef may amend these membership terms from time to time to reflect organisational development or legal requirements.
Members will be notified of significant changes.
